Dashboard Day Today

Dashboard Day Today

Today we decided to recover a couple of brown dashboard top panels.  As quiet a few Figaro owners will know this is a common problem and can either be a small split or a split from one side of the dash to the other.  I’ve seen repairs where car body filler has been used, small strips of vinyl glued on and some quite shabby attempts at covering with various materials such as leather.

As you can see from the photo of a Lapis Grey dash the splits look terrible and can often reduce the sale price of a Figaro.

If you look closely at the two we are recovering you will see that we have used two different grades of grain and finish.  We tried the rough grade which hides the old split well underneath as it looks part of the repair, the vinyl had quite a glossy finish which would probably give you a glare on a sunny day.  So the dash we will probably put back in the car is the lighter coloured vinyl which has a matt finish but you need to fill the split prior to putting the covering on….once we did this the overall finish was very good.

We have a few different coloured dashes in our cellar so we will be recovering a few more over the next few weeks as well as refurbishing a few Figaro interiors.

Thanks for looking.
